What is Spravato?
Spravato (esketamine) is a prescription nasal spray FDA-approved for treatment-resistant depression and for depressive symptoms in adults with major depression and acute suicidal ideation. It works on the brain's glutamate system — a different mechanism than traditional antidepressants — which is why it can act far more quickly.
Because of how it works, Spravato is given in our office under the supervision of our care team. You self-administer the spray and are monitored for about two hours afterward. You will need someone to drive you home.

Spravato — common questions
How fast does Spravato work?
For some patients, depressive symptoms improve in as little as 24 hours — much faster than traditional antidepressants. Response varies, and your provider will set realistic expectations.
Is Spravato the same as ketamine?
Spravato (esketamine) is a specific, FDA-approved formulation derived from ketamine, delivered as a nasal spray in a monitored medical setting. That FDA approval is what makes it insurance-eligible for treatment-resistant depression.
Why do I need a driver?
Spravato can cause temporary dizziness or drowsiness, so you must not drive until the next day. Plan for someone to take you home after each visit.
Could Spravato be your fast track to relief?
Request a consultation and we will confirm candidacy and handle the authorization.
